Yes — if the damage is isolated and the rest of the roof is still sound, we repair that section and leave the rest alone. A full replacement only makes sense when the damage is widespread or the roof is near the end of its life. Our crew opens the affected area to check the decking underneath, because a section repair only holds if what is below the shingles is dry and solid. You see the drone footage and the written scope before anything starts, so you can judge for yourself whether the problem is local or roof-wide.

The leak seldom starts where the stain is. Water runs along the underside of the decking and down the rafters before it drops, so the entry point is often several feet uphill from the spot on your ceiling. That is why we trace rather than patch. We start at the stain, work up the water path, and check the places that fail first — flashing at chimneys and walls, valleys, pipe boots, nail pops and ice-dam damage at the eaves. Repairs fail early for predictable reasons: the leak was never traced to its real source, incompatible sealant was used, or wet decking was covered instead of replaced. We document what we find, so if the same spot comes back, there is a record of exactly what was done.

Close, but rarely a perfect match — new shingles have not weathered yet, so they usually read slightly darker at first. On most asphalt roofs that difference blends within a season or two. We match manufacturer, product line and colour code wherever the shingle is still in production, and we tell you up front when we cannot. On roofs where matching genuinely matters — a front-facing slope, a recent replacement — we say so before you commit, not after.

Winter repairs are routine here — an active leak should never wait for spring, because freeze-thaw cycles widen every gap water gets into. What changes in cold weather is the method, not whether the work gets done. Below roughly 40°F, asphalt shingles become brittle, and self-sealing strips will not bond on their own, so shingles are hand-sealed and materials are kept warm until they go on. Ice and snow have to come off the work area first, which is why some winter calls start as ice removal and become a repair. Cosmetic work we will happily schedule for spring; anything letting water in, we do not.
